Caregiver Canada Program

Immigration

Caregiver Canada Program

Canada understands the need to bring in foreign workers to help support the labour shortage and thus provide various immigration programs to support the transition.

The Home Support worker pilot and Home Child Care Provider Pilot are used to fulfilling the shortage of caregivers in the Canadian workforce.

You can apply for Canadian Permanent Residency through any of these Caregiver Canada programs if you have a valid job offer in these occupations and meet the other eligibility requirements. Qualifying under these programs will get you an LMIA exempt open work permit, restricting that specific occupation.

The programs used for hiring in-home/live-in Caregivers since 2019 are:

  1. Home Support Worker Pilot

  2. Home Child Care Provider Pilot

Details about these Caregiver Programs:

  • These Pilot, Caregiver Canada programs, will stay for five years

  • They are a pathway to Permanent Residency for the caregivers and their accompanying family members

  • Have different application processes depending on the qualifying work experience

  • Family members can accompany the caregivers if they want to work or study in Canada
